Environmental Conditions Trigger Famines
Natural disasters like Tsunamis and Earthquakes are causing a shortage in food in some parts. After natural disasters many people need food aid. "In 2006, the FAO reported that 58 million people in 36 countries (two-thirds of them in sub-Saharan Africa) needed emergency food aid" (Cunningham). Natural disasters have been increasing in number over the last several years. Recently creating geneticly modified foods are important in order to stand the environmental changes. Over the last 50 years a new revolution has been growing, the green revolution. The green revolution is creating new plants and genetically motified animals. These animals and plants have a higher tolerance for climate change, like less of a water need, and colder temperature tolerance. Humans are creating alternativites for the normal production.
